If you’re looking to increase the value of your home, a new lawn could be just the ticket.

A recent survey from Lawnspiration and Raine & Horne Real Estate revealed that adding turf to your home could increase its value by 20 per cent.

The survey found that lawn is by far the most popular surface for families on the hunt for a new home, preferred by two-thirds (63 per cent) of real estate agents, versus other surfaces including decking (21 per cent), synthetic turf (7 per cent), paving (5 per cent) and concrete (3 per cent).

In addition, more than 9 in 10 real estate agents recommend homeowners improve their lawn before going to market.

Why? A lawn improves the look and feel of a property, adds lifestyle appeal and provides a safe and fun play area for kids.

Professional renovator and interior designer, Bonnie Hindmarsh of Three Birds Renovations, shares her three top tips for adding value to your home below.

1) Give your backyard a lift with turf

Bonnie says anyone with a garden space should embrace the power of lawn.

“A turf-renovation can transform a space dramatically, quickly, and doesn’t cost the earth,” she says.

Gardens and lawns can often be a second thought when it comes to renovating, but they shouldn’t be. They can have a powerful impact on overall house appeal and make a great first impression. They’re also a relatively small investment in comparison to other home renovations. So, if you want to make your home stand out from the crowd, chat to your nearest turf supplier and get that lawn looking lush.

2) Use spray paint to instantly update your façade

Give your home an instant update with some spray paint – that’s right, get out the spray gun, tape up your windows and doors and spray the facade of your house! Paint gives you bang for buck and changing the colour of your exterior can happen in as little as two days with the right prep and tools.

3) Give your entryway a makeover

Get your doorway looking dapper by adding new hardware and a coat of paint to your front door. It’s a great way to add interest to your property, and you can keep it low-cost by doing it yourself.
